We started our Saturday morning early. I got up at 4:00 a.m. so we could be at Landon’s house by 5:00 this morning. We were taking a family vacation to the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama, so we wanted to get an early start. Landon was the most wide awake of the whole crew. He’s been looking forward to this day for weeks, but he didn’t really know how far it was from home. He was far too excited for any napping on the way, so he just tracked our progress by repeating often, “Are we there yet?”
When we finally reached our destination, there was a lot of work to be done. All the inflatables had to be pumped up. Landon was the only one left with the energy for pumping.
Then finally, Landon’s first close-up look at the Gulf.
Susan and Landon got their feet wet.
He was quite impressed.
A boy happy to be on vacation . . .
. . . enjoying the sand . . .
. . . and the water.
The view is beautiful from our balcony. We are looking forward to a few relaxing days here with our family. Hopefully we’ll even cook some vacation food to post this week. Tomorrow I’ll visit the grocery store.
