Oh my goodness! I have made many dump cakes before, but never a chocolate one until now. All last week I was craving something chocolate, and I didn’t know just what I wanted until I saw this recipe, then I knew. Warm, chocolaty, gooey – this is it!
1 1/2 cups milk
1 (18.25 ounce) box chocolate cake mix
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare a 9 x 13-inch baking pan by spraying with cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine the pudding mix and milk; whisk together according to package directions. Add the dry cake mix and stir well to combine (batter will be thick). Smooth batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Bake for 30 minutes in preheated oven.
This looks scrumptious! I love all the chocolate and I can't wait to try it soon 🙂
Yummy. I have never used pudding with cake mix before. I bet I would love this.

How could you possibly go wrong with this simple combination of chocolates!? Looks mouth-watering. So glad you linked this up at Weekend Potluck. Please come back again next week.
When I saw dump cake I was thinking it was like the other dump cakes. Where you do not mix at all just layer all the ingredients and do not stir. I was wondering what in the world would be the liquids that could be.

I have been making this recipe for years. I originally found it in one of the Taste of Home magazines. Instead of chocolate dump cake, my recipe calls it triple fudge brownies and you mix the chocolate chips in instead of sprinkling on top and bake in a 10×15 pan.
I am actually making this on Thursday for my husband's 50th birthday and topping it with coconut pecan frosting.
Does this have to be kept refrigerated?
It's probably not necessary, but I keep any leftovers in the refrigerator. If you like it warm it can be put in the microwave for a few seconds after refrigeration. Some like ice cream on top too.
