Finding the spice bottle that I needed was once a frustrating experience for me in my kitchen. I would open the cabinet and start picking up bottles and jars, reading labels, and often it seemed I was picking up the same jars over and over again. For a while, I tried writing the names of the spice on top of the jars. This helped some, but did not solve the problem of too many spices stuffed together in the cabinet. I still couldn’t find what I was looking for quickly. Recently I had the idea to use a large drawer for all my spices.
What a difference the drawer has made. I can now see every label clearly. I used the same type of little baskets to lay the jars in the drawer that I had used to stand them up in the cabinet, but the labels are so much more visible now.
The cabinet above that once was crowded with all the jars of spices now has enough breathing room for the salt, baking soda, flavorings, and other baking essentials. A little organization makes any cooking project go better. This spice drawer has made me happy. I’d love to know how other cooks organize spices in their kitchens.

Hi Anita hope you had a Happy Thanksgivng. I love what you did, my spices take over the entire cupboard and can't find a one, I use those step type holders, I need to try this. Great job and glad you are happy, I am sad, I want to be happy with a spice draw like yours. Andi
PS I do have a good size draw that I could use! But what do I do with all that stuff…….

Anita, how neat and organized that drawer looks. The new arrangement is a very clever way to be more efficient. The spice cabinet in our kitchen is a disaster. The spice bottles are on turn tables but are constantly turning over and sometimes falling on the ceramic cooktop. Your method seems like it would work for me. Thanks for a great idea. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. There were only four of us but we had a delicious meal and enjoyed being together and that is a blessing itself.

Love it! I'm still working with the writing the names on top of the bottles theme, plus a hanging basket of bottles… need to simplify:@)

Hi Anita, I love your spice drawer! It's so great to have easy access, isn't it? My hubby hung little wire baskets inside a cabinet door. I have four on each door. They have to be mounted carefully in order to close the door. He did a great job. However, I still have even more spices (we always need another one for some recipe!) and those are just in the cupboard, along with the b. soda, b. powder, etc., etc.!!!!! Thanks for showing us your organized drawer.

This is a great idea. I don't have an extra drawer and I am now thinking of ways to redo my kitchen to clear one out. I hate getting out spices for the reasons, you shared. This would cut time and frustration down to nothing.

I love it!!! I have two drawers and one of them really could use those little baskets. The other is filled with McCormick spices in the glass jars and don't roll around.

I don't have a spice drawer (which looks wonderful!) however, one tip I would like to share is I keep my spices alphabetized. It is quick and easy to find what I am looking for. Hope this helps!
