The solution to the mail clutter is an empty cereal box. I’m modeling my project after a nifty one I saw created on the blog There’s a Hole in My Bucket.
Many schools collect them. My grandchildrens’ schools, both public and private, save them, and most of the schools that I have worked in over the years also collected them. At the last school I worked in, a ladies’ Sunday school class collected these as a project for our school. So even if you don’t have children or grandchildren who collect them, somewhere there’s a school that will appreciate you saving them.
Now on to the project – I decided to turn the cereal box sideways to make it wider and not as tall. I cut the front down lower than the back, then taped the top closed. I used scrap book paper to cover it all over. It took most of 4 sheets. I also painted some small wooden letters to spell “MAIL” and then hot glued them to the front.

Well aren't you clever! Amazing and you had everything right there and made something pretty much out of nothing and it looks so nice! If you'd gone to a store to buy something with that functionality you would have paid a pretty price for it!
Yep, I already collect the labels for eduacation and save them and send them to my daughter the teacher as she's the one that asked but yes…it's a great thing and it only takes a minute to clip them off. People would be amazed at how much teachers spend out of there own pockets to give the kids what they need.
I have the same trouble with mail and I think I'm going to do the same as you and what a great idea for those free advertising magnets! I have a whole slew of those! I'm going to make 3, I think. One for "bills", one for "action" like dates coming up, coupons that I will use and things to read when I have more time, and another for "receipts". Magazines and junk mail I like, always go on my bed to read when I hit the hay. But who knows when I'll do this as I am busy doing outdoor stuff now! LOL! Big plans but we'll see. It would save time in the long run when I sit down to do bills etc. Thank you so much for the idea! I hope it works for you too!

I think mail is a chronic problem in most homes! I love your solution…close to the 'normal' drop zone and the bright color is a great reminder of the new system. Thanks for sharing! P.S. – I shared your pinwheels on my FB page yesterday.

I love the way "everyone" is in quotations. I understand that feeling. I swear the second a place is clutter free, it's like a whirlwind comes through and everything is back. Thanks so much for sharing at Whimsy Wednesdays. Stop back tonight for the bloglovin blog hop if you get a chance.

Thank you for posting!
I made this last weekend using American Girl scrapbook paper I already had on-hand and a magnet I found on one of our phone books.
My advice to anyone making one of these is to make sure you get good quality magnet clips for the clips shown at the top of the box. The ones I purchased came from Dollar Tree and are not that great of quality. Even with three of them holding the box on the fridge, the box will only hold a few pieces of mail before it begins to slide down the fridge. After sorting through some paper clutter I had, I found more business card type magnets I plan to glue onto the back, so I am hopeful that those will help keep the box from slipping down the front of the fridge.
