The earliest Rowe ancestors that I have been able to document on my family tree are Harry Rowe (b. circa 1686, Westminster, London, England). His wife is listed as Leticia Rowe (b. circa 1691, Westminster, London, England). Harry and Leticia had a son, Harry Rowe (b. October 29, 1712, Westminster, London, England). The younger Harry Rowe and his unknown wife had a son, Joseph C. Rowe, Sr. (b. circa 1737, Tipperary, Ireland). Joseph C. Rowe, Sr. married Jane Page/Paige (b. circa 1742 Tyrone, Ireland) in 1765 at Tipperary, Ireland. Filby’s passenger lists show that Joseph and Jane left Ireland and arrived in South Carolina about November 2, 1768. His claim to 300 acres of land between the Saludy and Savannah Rivers was recorded in the Council Journal, page 272. Records also show that their son, James Rowe, was born on the ship before they landed in South Carolina. They went on to have two more sons, David Jackson Rowe (1772-1837) and Joseph C. Rowe, Jr. (1775-1845).
My direct ancestor, (the son of Joseph and Jane Rowe) James Rowe, (1768-1839) married Abigail Anne Howard on December 22, 1794, at Onslow, North Carolina. Their son, Joseph Duncan “Joel” Rowe (1801-1875) was my great-great-great grandfather. Joel Rowe married Jamiah “Jemima” Pitts (1810-1870) circa 1831 in Georgia. Their son, James H. Rowe, was born July 21, 1837, in Georgia. James H. Rowe married Rebecca (b. circa 1836, Giles County, Tennessee) about 1859 in Greene County, Arkansas.
Their son, James H. Rowe, Jr. (February 22, 1863 – January 31, 1915) was my great grandfather. James H. Rowe, Jr. married Bulah Muse (January 4, 1868 – April 16, 1893) on January 27, 1886. Their son, Charlie Cimpson Rowe, was my grandfather. Charlie’s mother, Bulah Muse Rowe, was killed in a horse and wagon accident before Charlie was two years old. James Rowe and Bulah Muse Rowe also had a daughter, Evia Leonia “Effie” Rowe. James Rowe later remarried to Clarese “Clara” Morrow Rowe, and their marriage produced eight more children.

Charlie Rowe (November 5, 1891-May 11, 1971) married Mary Magadelene “Mamie” Bass (September 14, 1897-March 10, 1967) on January 1, 1919 at Greene County Arkansas.
Charlie Rowe and Mamie Bass Rowe
Charlie Cimpson Rowe and Mamie Bass Rowe (my paternal grandparents) were the parents of seven children. My dad, Chester Lee Rowe (November 2, 1921-August 5, 1995), was their second born son. Chester Rowe married Virginia Dolphine Clark (March 19, 1925-June 15, 2014) on January 11, 1948, at Greene County, Arkansas.
