Today I baked a big beautiful Strawberry Pound Cake, and let’s keep this our little secret, one of the ingredients is a cake mix. This recipe starts with a basic cake mix, then with some added ingredients, in this case, instant pudding, extra eggs, and mini chocolate chips, the end result does not resemble a boxed cake mix at all.
A few extra ingredients can turn a cake mix into a pound cake.

I won't tell your secret. That looks pretty darn good. Easy and ready to eat. And you approved. Cake mixes have come a long way since I start baking. I have a cupcake that I made that started with a cakemix also. I approve. Thanks for sharing andi http://thewednesdaybaker.blogspot.com/2011/08/coconut-date-cookies.html

My uncle by marriage used to swear that his wife only baked from-scratch cakes! When he passed, we gathered at their home and my aunt took me into her kitchen. I asked for one of her recipes that my uncle loved the most so I could continue to share desserts with him, in that sense. She said, "It's real easy. All you have to do is open one of these (Duncan Hines Cake Mix) and add one of these (Dream-Whip Topping Mix) and it's perfect. Your uncle never came into my kitchen!" Don'tcha just love these family recipes!… Come visit when you can.

Could I use butter in place of the oil with the same results?
Anita Rowe Stafford says
Hi Savannah, Yes, I believe butter would work in place of oil in this recipe. I haven't made it that way, but butter should be an even exchange for oil, so 1/3 cup of butter would replace the oil. Let me know how you like it.
