Is your child a picky eater? Many young children want to eat the same foods over and over, and they don’t want to try anything new. In my new picture book, Vegetables Smegetables, Katy Marie’s mother has run out of ideas.
From the book cover: Katy Marie hates vegetables. In fact, every time her mother puts vegetables on her plate, she refuses to try a taste. She only wrinkles up her nose and says, “Vegetables, smegetables! I hate vegetables!” Will Katy Marie ever eat anything other than chicken nuggets? Katy Marie’s dad wants to entice her to at least give vegetables a try, so he implements a plan for a new hobby for Katy Marie.
Even if your child loves all kinds of foods, he will still enjoy reading about picky Katy Marie and following along to see how she changes her mind about vegetables. Find Vegetables Smegetables here.
If you have children in the picture book stage from about 3 to 7 years, you might want to check out Vegetables Smegetables or one of my other picture books. These include Briley Isabelle Gordon Wants a Cat, A Vegetable Garden is Not For Cows, Uncle Philip is a Farmer, and The Disappearance of Mr. White. A grandparent of several small children pointed out to me recently that The Disappearance of Mr. White would be a great Easter basket gift book, and I agree. Easter falls on April 17 this year. It’s never too soon to plan ahead.
Is there a topic you’d like to see in new picture books that your child would enjoy reading? I like to write books that both parents and children enjoy. Let me hear what your ideas are! And, don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter and receive a FREE copy of the parenting article, “Stop Talking to the Wall.” This is an excerpt from my book Confessions of a Cell Phone Loser.
